After Trustin Oliver landed an offer from the Colorado Buffaloes on January 19, it felt like just a matter of time before he'd pledge to CU.

The Parker (Colo.) Legend H.S. safety, who is from Southern California, had an official visit set up for the weekend of January 25, but he went ahead and committed to the Buffs a couple of days prior to his visit.

"I could just tell that it was real; they weren't BS'ing me," Oliver said. "Why waste an opportunity like this?"

Oliver has been a good looking prospect in the Centennial State for the past few years, but interestingly enough, Mike MacIntyre's Colorado staff never showed much interest in Oliver. They never even brought him on campus for a visit.

"My first time being up there was this past weekend," Oliver said.

Oliver had a great first visit at CU Boulder.

"It was amazing and even better than I thought it would be," Oliver said. "The way the culture is and how the players believe in the new coaching staff -- they know that they're going to win lots and lots of games. At the end of the day, I see CU going on the rise and I want to hop on the train."

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound three-star prospect bonded with his future coaching staff and is fired up about his future with them.

"They're really, really down to earth guys," Oliver said. "It's a really family oriented coaching staff. That's what my biggest thing was -- if I can find a family oriented coaching staff that can help me get to where I want to be on and off the field, I can get my degree, I can be successful even if I don't make to (the NFL). All of my boxes have been checked. I'm going to CU."

Oliver has played a lot of various positions during his football playing career, and he will start out at safety in the black and gold.

"The way the [Colorado staff] sees me is a run supporter and a free roamer," said Oliver. "They said I can make a lot of big plays for this team."
