Although he did not make the initial Rivals.com top 100 Texas prospects list, Jacob Lacey figures to make a strong case for the honors this fall. The 5-foot-11, 170-pound athlete from Garland (Texas) Naaman Forest already claims scholarship offers from Wisconsin, Purdue, SMU, TCU, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Tulsa, Missouri, Texas Tech and Baylor. It also appears that Colorado and Kansas State are on the verge of offering.

“They are about to offer pretty soon, it should be here pretty soon,” Lacey said in regards to Colorado. “I like the way they handled the whole situation that they had.”
Oklahoma State, Colorado, Wisconsin and Purdue round out Lacey’s top five. “I’m pretty open for the most part,” he said. “But there is a chance I might make an early decision.”
Lacey starts at quarterback in high school level but projects as a cornerback for the next level. Last season, he threw for 1,163 yards and rushed for 1,204 yards. Lacey found the end zone a total of 20 times on offense.
“He’s a tremendous athlete for us,” his coach, Bill Patterson recently told TheHurricaneAlert.com. “He played cornerback for us as a sophomore, then was moved to quarterback last season and was named the district player of the year."
"He’s a great leader for us and is one of our captains," Coach Patterson added. "He’s a hard worker and a good student.”
Lacey tested out well at the College Station NIKE Camp. He ran a 4.52-forty, a 4.21-shuttle and tested out with a 34-inch vertical leap.
Naaman Forest won their season opener last Thursday, 20-17, but it wasn’t a painless win. “I got a little injury in the game,” Lacey said. “I twisted my ankle but I’ll be okay.”
