Trajon Cotton has gone back and forth about when he will make his college decision. In the past, he talked about wanting to take some official visits before committing. But on Sunday, he told BuffStampede.com he might decide right before his senior season.

“I don't know yet. I will sit down and talk with my family at the end of the summer and see where we are at,” said Cotton, a three-star prospect from Sacramento (Calif.) Inderkum. “A lot of schools are still recruiting me hard and I am still enjoying the process. I don't let it get in the way of anything so it's not stressful to wait a bit longer."

Cotton has mentioned Colorado among his favorites for a while now, and he said the Buffs have been one of the most creative programs in trying to catch his attention.

“I hear a lot about 'The Rise' at Colorado; how they are trying to rebuild and take over again like they did in the past,” said Cotton. “Everybody on Colorado's staff hits me up and shows love. They want me and my boy Josh Falo real bad. I know a lot of people that have signed with Colorado so it is a great connection they have with NorCal kids.”

Cotton visited Boulder in early April and he is trying to line up another visit to Colorado for the summer. He also hopes to get out to see Utah and BYU sometime this summer.

Cotton had listed a top three of Oregon, Colorado and UCLA in the past. He said Sunday evening he is also giving Nebraska, Utah and Memphis strong consideration.

“A lot of Utah's staff follows me on Twitter and talks to me. They tell me how much they need me. They think I could play right away. I hear a similar message from the Memphis coaches,” Cotton said. “Nebraska is making a big movement with California kids so I have taken notice of that. And I like [Huskers cornerbacks] coach [Brian] Stewart.”

The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Cotton earned first-team all-league, all-section, all-county and all-metro honors as a junior. He started at both quarterback and safety while helping Inderkum to 12 wins and a Tri-County Conference championship in 2015.

“I grew up playing quarterback so I feel I have good knowledge of the game. As a sophomore, my first year playing defensive back, I just took off with it,” Cotton said. “I pride myself on having a lot of energy on the field, a relentless attitude.”

Some schools project Cotton as a safety, some colleges are recruiting him for cornerback, and some other programs are simply recruiting him as a versatile defensive back.

“I feel like I am a well-rounded player. I can play anywhere in the secondary,” he said.
