Commit Updates: Clutch performance by Noyer

In windy weather, Sam Noyer was not able to rack up a lot of passing yards in Beaverton's game against Tualatin in the second-round of the 6A Oregon state playoffs last Friday, but the Colorado quarterback commit came up big when it mattered most.
Beaverton gambled on fourth-and-6 at its 24-yard line late in the fourth quarter, and Noyer rolled out right and hit a receiver for a 14-yard gain. Less than a minute later, with just 3:07 remaining on the clock, the Beavers' offense faced another critical play. On fourth-and-13 at their 35, Noyer threw a 68-yard touchdown pass, then engineered a successful two-point conversion. Beaverton hung on to win, 21-14.

"Our coaches knew that we wanted the ball in our hands at that point. We didn't want to punt the ball and just let them run out the clock because they were leading by one," Noyer recapped. "It was a great play call and I was rolling out left and our offensive line did a great job and I saw one of my playmakers open, got him the ball and let him do the rest."
The win was Beaverton's ninth of the season. Noyer also had a team-high 66 rushing yards on 14 carries, including a 36-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. He finished with 136 passing yards.
"It is definitely a big win for the team. We haven't had a win like that at Beaverton since 2008," Noyer said. "This has definitely been a very successful season. It has been a lot of fun to enjoy this with my teammates for sure."
The Beavers will face top-ranked Jesuit in the state quarterfinals. Less than a month ago, the Crusaders defeated Beaverton on their home field, 70-0. What did Noyer learn from their first-match up against Jesuit that they can use this time around?
"Just the fact that we have to score early. We obviously didn't score against them at all, but if we score on a few of those early drives, I think it would have been a different ballgame," he said. "We definitely have to take advantage when we have the ball and just put points on the board and see what happens.
"They are the best team in the state so they're a good team but last time I don't think we came out there prepared for them. I do think they're good, but I don't think they are good enough to beat us 70-0 again."
Noyer joined the Buffaloes' commitment list in early June. He has attended two of Colorado's contests this season and he has watched the Buffs' other games on television.
"Obviously they are doing a lot of things right. It has been tough, they have been so close with a lot of games and there is definitely frustration, I can tell," Noyer said. "But it is a blessing to have an opportunity to play for them. I think the coaching staff is doing a great job and I am excited to get up to Boulder in June."
Noyer plans to take his official visit to Colorado during the weekend of Dec. 4.
