Buffs add Alex Tchangam to 2018 recruiting class

Mike MacIntyre and the Colorado Buffaloes added a key piece to the defense as Cupertino (Calif.) De Anza C.C. outside linebacker Alex Tchangam committed to the Buffs on Friday.

The 6-foot-3, 255-pound three-star recruit played as a 3-4 stand up edge rusher for his junior college, and he is expected to assume the same role in D.J. Eliot's defense.

Tchangam was a late bloomer in the recruiting process, as he picked up all seven of his offers in the month of January -- coming from CU, Kansas, Florida Atlantic, Louisiana Lafayette, Portland State, and San Jose State.

He took his official visit to Colorado on January 19 and enjoyed Boulder.

"I went on the visit expecting to have a good time and then whatever happens, happens," Tchangam said after his visit.. "It's a blessing that they offered me. [MacIntyre] told me that he wants me to come in and be an impact player for his program. I definitely liked the school, and I can see myself there."

Tchangam will enroll at CU over the summer and will come as a junior with a redshirt year available.
