When offensive tackle Matthew Huhn entered the recruiting process, he hoped to see his offer list reach double digits, but he never expected his stock to take off as much as it has.

“My dad and I thought 10 offers would be really good. And as the offers started piling up, and as of right now it is 28 offers, it was like, wow, this is amazing,” said Huhn, a 6-foot-7, 280-pound senior-to-be from San Antonio (Texas) John Jay.

Keeping up with all the colleges has made life a “little busy” for Huhn, but the process has not become overwhelming.

“Especially with school kind of winding down, it gives me time to keep track of what is going on. And my parents have done a great job of helping me along with that,” he said. “Football is partially my job and I take it really seriously and spend a lot of time staying up-to-date with recruiting.”

Just days after receiving his first Pac-12 offer from Oregon State, Huhn added an offer from Colorado. He had a phone conversation with Buffs offensive line coach Klayton Adams, and two other Colorado coaches – co-offensive coordinator Darrin Chiaverini and defensive line coach Jim Jeffcoat - have stopped by John Jay during the spring evaluation period.

“Their offensive line coach said he really liked me and wanted to get me up there. Then a week later, they ended up offering. It is a pretty nice offer to have,” Huhn said. “I haven't been to Colorado a lot, but I have been there before and it is an absolutely beautiful area. Boulder being the No. 1 college town in America and having Denver not too far away is nice. I think it is a great spot, and obviously they play in a great conference.”

Michigan, Houston, Texas State and SMU are some of the other programs that have made a favorable impression on Huhn early in the process. He called the Wolverines' offer “a big one.”

“Michigan kind of came out of nowhere, I never saw it coming,” Huhn said. “One of their coaches started following me on Twitter and the next day they ended up offering. I have had a few short message conversations with [head] coach [Jim] Harbaugh and have been in contact with their offensive line coach and the recruiting coordinator. It is really, really exciting. I think they have something great going on there and if I get a chance to go up there to visit, I would definitely like to.”

Huhn plans to take some trips and release a top 10 this summer, but he has not scheduled any visits yet.

“I think I might be going to Texas Tech later in June but really right now it is kind of just getting through the school year and then when things come up, having that ability to decide and do it then,” Huhn said. “My summer is kind of all up-in-the-air, nothing is really set other than a vacation to Florida right when school ends.”

College coaches have complimented Huhn the most on his length and athleticism. He is not yet rated on Rivals, but is a three-star prospect on both Scout and 247Sports.
