Geers takes in spring practice

With three big-time offensive line prospects -- Hunter Bivin, Colin McGovern and Mike McGlinchey -- recently falling off Wisconsin's recruiting board, the coaching staff is beginning to reevaluate a few linemen in the junior class.

With that in mind, UW extended Andrew Geers an invitation to attend spring practice and the 6-foot-7, 275-pound prospect was on campus for an unofficial visit last week.

"I really liked their practice," Geers told BadgerBlitz.com. "I don't think I saw one guy stop moving that entire practice. They look like a well-oiled machine and it's only the spring.

"I also got to talk to some of the coaches up there like coach (Chris) Ash, coach (Bret) Bielema and coach (Mike) Markuson. I'm really excited to come to camp this summer."

The Badgers would like to take three offensive linemen in the 2013 class. Limited scholarship numbers could make that difficult, but Geers, along with a handful of other prospects, will continue to be evaluated this summer.

"At that practice I just gave them a hard copy of my film," Geers said. "I'm waiting on a response from coach Markuson, and I know all of the coaches expressed their interest in me and would like to see me at camp."

The three-star talent from Naperville (IL) Neuqua Valley said UW, along with Illinois, Toledo, Ball State and Western Michigan, are currently showing the most interest.

Geers has few more visits scheduled before the end of his junior year in high school.

"I was just at Ball State, Western Michigan and Wisconsin this last week," he said. "I'm planning on visiting Illinois on Friday. And in the next two weeks I'm trying to visit Toledo, Iowa and Vanderbilt.

"At the moment I do not have any offers, and Wisconsin is already in my top three. I would love to become a Badger if I had the opportunity."
