Switch to defense pays off for Moore

When the season started for East Los Angeles College Nas Moore had no idea he would end up playing cornerback. Moore was a wide receiver when he arrived from West Hills College.

It is a good thing he moved over to defense.

When Kansas defensive coordinator Dave Campo looked at his film he liked what he saw.

"Coach Campo said he liked he my ball skills," Moore said. "He couldn't tell I just started playing in the third game of the year."

Moore caught the attention of the coaches in his league with the position switch. At the end of the year he was a unanimous all-conference selection. When Kansas recruiting coordinator/wide receivers coach Rob Ianello started to recruit Moore he saw his talents.

"Coach Ianello came out and took my film back to coach Campo," Moore said. "They have been recruiting me for about three weeks. Coach Ianello has been talking to me and telling me more about the Kansas program and school. He's really cool."

Moore is originally from Georgia where he attended Peachtree Ridge High. He was a wide receiver and track standout. At 6-foot, 190 pounds, he has the speed college recruiters are looking for. This spring he will also run track for East Los Angeles.

BYU and San Diego State have offered and heavy interest has come from Fresno State, Kansas, and Utah. Moore will take an official visit to BYU on Feb. 3. He is still waiting to line up other visits.

Kansas head coach Charlie Weis met with Moore on Tuesday. The staff told Moore they would let him know on Sunday about setting up an official visit.

"I probably won't sign on signing day," Moore said. "My birthday is Feb. 18th and I am hoping to announce where I am going that day."
