Vanderbilt upset at home -- again
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Vanderbilt blew an eight-point lead in the last six-and-a-half minutes, losing its third home game of the season to unranked Indiana State by a 61-55 score on Saturday afternoon.
Jeffery Taylor scored 21 points and pulled six rebounds, but it wasn't enough to overcome a balanced ISU scoring attack that placed four players in double-digits.
The Commodores' Lance Goulbourne pulled an offensive rebound, got fouled, and hit the free throw with 6:32 left, and VU appeared to be in control, up 53-45 with 6:32 left.
But the Sycamores ran off nine-straight points in the next three minutes exactly to go up one, and the 'Dores never re-took the lead.
It's the third home loss already for a Commodore team that started the year ranked seventh in the national polls.
VU started 1-fof-8, and trailed 16-4 before reeling off 12-straight points to tie. At half, things were still deadlocked at 28.
Brad Tinsley added 12 points, and John Jenkins, 11, for the Commodores (6-4).
Reserve R.J. Mahurin led the Sycamores (7-3) with 14 points.
