English eyeing the SEC

Last fall as a junior, Powder Springs, Ga., defensive end Darius English had little problems getting to opposing backfield and totaled 73 tackles and 17 sacks. This spring, the 6-foot-6 and 218-pound English is looking to expand his game and become more balanced.

"I am really focused on getting better with run defense," said English. "I can use my speed and height to go around linemen and then I cam also use my strength against the smaller linemen. My speed has always been pretty good but my main focus this spring is my run defense."

English currently holds offers from Mississippi State, Arkansas, South Carolina, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, South Florida, Illinois and East Carolina. He added that several other schools have stopped by this spring and judging from where he grew up, he is a big fan of the SEC.

"Florida, Wake Forest and South Carolina all stopped by the same day and so did Vanderbilt and Illinois," said English. "Georgia and Arkansas and Mississippi State have been by, too, and some of those schools are coming back again.

"I would love to play in the SEC and I am glad I have several SEC offers. More than likely, the SEC is where I will end up."
So it is little surprise that noting but SEC schools are currently on English's list of favorites.

"My favorites right now are Arkansas, SOuth Carolina, Mississippi State, Kentucky and Florida will be in there, too, if they decide to offer," noted English. "I got my offer from Mississippi State about a month ago and I was excited about that offer because they are in the SEC and they are coming off a real good season."

Later in the summer, English said he planned to take a few visits to SEC programs, including the likes of MSU, Arkansas and South Carolina. Once his senior year rolls around, English also plans to have his college decision in the past.

"I am looking to go ahead and get my visits out of the way this summer so I can commit before the season," said English. "I want to make sure I can just focus on my team and our senior season and not have to worry about recruiting."
