Paying Brunson a visit
Joseph Brunson took unofficial visits to Mississippi State, LSU, Arkansas, Ole Miss and Texas Tech. Now involved in his own spring drills, some of those same schools are returning the visit to check on the 6-foot-3 and 296-pound Brunson.Earlier this spring, Ruston (La.) junior offensive tackle
"It's going real good and a few coaches have come to visit me," said Brunson. "I don't have any offers yet so it is good to see these schools come by. LSU, Texas A&M, Arkansas and Memphis came by one one day and some other schools are supposed to stop by next week."
Concerning his goals for this spring, Brunson noted a couple areas garnering his attention on the gridiron.
"We've had a week of shorts and helmets and then we have two weeks of full pads," said Brunson. "I am at right tackle again and I am really working on my footwork and getting to linebackers. Those are the main things I need to work on. I had a really good season last year and made a big improvement from my sophomore year. But you always have to keep getting better in this game or you get left behind."
Of the schools showing him interest, Brunson noted of the main schools keeping tabs on him.
"Right now, I am hearing from LSU, Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Arkansas and Louisiana-Lafayette," said Brunson. "Those are the main five that are showing the most interest. Mississippi State is one of the schools coming to see me next week so that was good to hear."
And of those schools, Brunson said he is keeping an open mind and just waiting to see when his first offers may arrive.
"I like LSU and Arkansas but really, I like all of those schools," said Brunson. "They all have an equal shot with me and I am just going through the process. A school doesn't have to be real close to home. But I don't want it to be real far away where it is a big deal for my parents to have to travel for to see me play."
