Brown is 100% committed to the University of Miami
Keith Brown. Brown has elite size, "4.5" speed, and he has a knack for finding the football. The University of Miami commitment caught up with FlaVarsity and discussed his junior season, his senior goals, and how things have been going with his recruitment. When it comes to size, speed, and instincts at the linebacker position, there may not be a better player in the entire state of Florida than Miami Norland linebacker
"To be quite honest, my junior year was horrible. I didn't get to really show off all that I have to offer because injuries really bothered my game. They didn't bother me for a few games; it was the entire season. I can promise that my senior year will be four times better. I am really excited for it to start."
Brown was really disappointed in his junior season, but has major goals for his senior year. He wants to win as a team, but he also has some personal goals that he wants to achieve.
"I want our team to continue to grow and become even more successful. I expect a big year from our boys. Personally, I want 250 tackles. I want to hold the record for the most tackles in a single season for the entire state of Florida. It may be a lofty goal, but it's a goal I want to achieve."
The 6-foot-1, 228 pound linebacker has been committed to the University of Miami since September 13, 2010 and Brown doesn't see anything changing when it comes to his recruitment.
"I had a great time at the Miami Junior Day. It was really cool to just sit down and talk with the coaching staff. I didn't have any worries about the program or the school, but they answered all my questions that I had about the school, both on and off the field. I am still 100% committed. Honestly, the only school I am really interested in is Miami. It's my hometown team. I love the environment around the school and most importantly, I can come in and play right away."
Although Brown is fully committed to the University of Miami, he does plan to take some visits during his senior year. However, he did mention one school he won't be attending.
"I love the state of Florida, but I would like to take some visits outside of the state. I just want to check out some other schools. I will definitely be visiting LSU and Louisville at some point. I am open to leaving the state for a visit, as long as it's not somewhere like the University of Hawaii. That's just a little too far."
Brown feels that he is the top linebacker in the state, as well as the country and will not shy away from trying to prove it. He mentioned a top NFL linebacker as his source of motivation to be great.
"I try to be like Patrick Willis (of the San Francisco 49ers) when I am on the field. He is a monster out there. He is so aggressive, but he is also very smart. He brings the pain and can really hit out there. I also like that he is great in coverage. I try to play just like him and would love to be as good as him. I think my instincts, mobility, and speed are what separate me from the rest of the linebackers in the state. I will say that the one thing that I am working on is just finishing plays. I can't let up on the opposition for one second."
As a junior, Brown recorded 142 tackles, 4 sacks, 5 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, and 1 interception, which was returned for a touchdown. He also mentioned that he has a 2.99 GPA and recently recorded a 19 on the ACT.
