No. 4 for Major

The Buffaloes have already extended scholarship offers to a number of prospects from the Class of 2008. A talented in-state linebacker can now add his name to the list.

"I am honored to announce that Coach Hawkins offered me a scholarship tonight to CU," explained Jon Major, a 6-foot-4, 220-pound linebacker from Parker (Colo.) Ponderosa.

"I am excited about receiving the offer. CU has been one of my top college choices since camp last summer."

Major took an unofficial visit to CU in early November. He watched as the Buffaloes defeated Iowa State, 33-16.

"It was incredible to stand right next to Ralphie when he ran on the field," Major expressed. "It was a great game day atmosphere. It seems like everything is headed in the right direction for CU."

Major has also picked up scholarship offers from Wisconsin, Washington and Utah.

Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Cal and UCLA are some of the other programs that have shown early interest.

A two-time all-Continental Conference selection, Major recorded 218 tackles in 18 games as a sophomore and junior.

"I am versatile," Major said. "I play safety sometimes and go back into coverage. I'm also good at supporting the run. I like being a linebacker because you're the leader of the defense. You get to control that side of the ball. It's also the most hit-able position. You get to knock some heads."
