Prep Round-Up: Spartan targets shine

  • TE Dylan Chmura of Waukesha West High School, Wisconsin

    Chmura and Waukesha West High School lost to Arrowhead High School 52-7. The lost dropped west to 3-4 on the season. Chmura left the game with a knee injury. West Head Coach Stev Rux had the following to say:

    "I think he'll be all right," Rux said. "It was real sore and we didn't want to take a chance with him in this game. In a night like this, I don't think it would have made a lot of sense to have him out there." -Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

  • DE Demetrius Cooper of Chicago Julian High School, Illinois

    Julina High School fell to 1-5 on the season with a 38-6 loss to Harland High School

  • OT Dennis Finley of Detroit Cass Tech High School, Michigan

    The Technician improved to 6-1 on the season by shutting out Detroit Mumford High School by a score of 49-0. Cass Tech has outscored its last two opponents by a score of 105-0.

  • WR Jay Harris of Downingtown East High School, Pennsylvania

    Harris scored two touchdowns and over 100-yards receiving as Dowingtown East defeated previously undefeated St. Marks High School by a score of 26-21. Harrsi had the following to say about the game:

    "It was a tough game; we knew they were going to be a good team," Harris said. "We played them last year and it was 13-7. They were undefeated so we knew we were going to have to play well to win. I just tried to make plays when I had the chance. I will take my official visit after the season along with some of the other recruits. Damion Terry and I keep in touch, we text each other a lot. I am really looking forward to playing with him."

  • CB Darian Hicks of Solon High School, Ohio

    Hicks caught a touchdown pass, but it was a rough night for Solon High School as the Comets lost to Mentor High School by a score of 56-28. North Carolina commitment Mitch Tribusky threw 6 touchdowns in the game for Mentor.

  • RB Gerald Holmes of Flint Carman-Ainsworth, Michigan

    Holmes found little room to run Friday night in a 32-7 loss to undefeated Flint Powers (7-0). Holmes finished the game with 15-yards on 8 carries. 5 turnovers doomed the Cavaliers who fell to 6-1 on the season.

  • LB Shane Jones of Cincinnati Moeller High School, Ohio

    Moeller dropped their second game of the season in a loss to conference foe Cincinnati Elder High School by a score of 17-13. The loss dropped the Crusaders to 5-2 on the season.

  • WR Trey Kilgore of Cincinnati St. Xavier High School, Ohio

    St Xavier defeated Cincinnati LaSalle High School by a score of 31-14. Kilgore is still recovering from an injury. He is expected to play next weekend when Bombers travel to Lakewood to face undefeated St. Edwards High School.

  • DB Jalyn Powell of Warren Harind High School, Ohio

    Powell returned a punt 47-yards for a touchdown in a 28-20 victory over Euclid High School. The win was Harding 6th consecutive after dropping their season opener.

  • LB Jon Reschke of Brother Rice High School, Michigan

    Reschke helped Brother Rice come from behind and defeat rival Detroit Catholic Central by a score of 20-14. The win improved the Warriors to 5-2 on the season. Reschke had the following to say about the win.

    "It was a classic Brother Rice vs. Catholic Central rivalry game," he stated. "It all came down to who wanted it more and we pulled through. Big time players make big plays in big games."

  • DT Devyn Salmon of Plant City High School, Florida

    Plant City lost to Durnat High School by a score of 22-7 to drop to 3-2 on the season.

  • RB R.J. Shelton of Beaver Dam High School, Wisconsin

    Shelton rushed for 232 yards on 16 carries and scored 4 TD's as Beaver Dam defeated East High School by a score of 34-6. The win improved Beaver Dam to 3-4 on the season. Shelton now has 1222-yards on 134 carries and 14 touchdowns on the season.

  • QB Damion Terry of Erie Cathedral Prep High School, Pennsylvania

    In what is a big rivalry game for Cathedral Prep, Terry led a 98-yard drive late in the game to secure a 41-27 win over McDowell High school. The win improved Cathedral to 6-0 on the season. Terry was 18-of-30 for 193-yards and 4 touchdowns. Terry now has 23 TD on the season. Terry had the following to say about the game:

    "It was a real big game," Terry said. "The Prep vs McDowell game is like the Super Bowl of Erie. The offense and defense played really good and we finally came out on top for the first time in 4 years"

    Spartan target Delton Williams, who is expected to decide Tuesday between Michigan State and West Virginia, had 139 yards rushing on 12 carries and caught 11 passes for 139 yards.
