Gerry excited about offer

The Hawkeyes have certainly had some success recruiting the state of South Dakota in Kirk Ferentz's tenure with players such as Chad Greenway and Riley Reiff and are going back there in the Class of 2013. On Thursday, the Iowa coaching staff extended a scholarship offer to Sioux Falls native Nathan Gerry.

"We're doing workouts for football right now early in the morning before school, so at about 6:30 AM today Coach Hermanson told me about it," said Gerry. "He said Coach Morgan, my recruiting coordinator from Iowa, had been in touch and said they were ready to offer. It was pretty big news for me."

As a junior, the 6-foot-2, 206-pound Gerry finished with 34 catches for 623 yards and eight touchdowns on offense along with 73 tackles, three interceptions, and two sacks on defense. Most of the colleges recruiting him, including Iowa, are still up in the air as to where he projects at the next level.
