Massington One to Watch
With the 2013 recruiting season now under way, several of the nation's top prospects have already heard from a large number of schools and that will likely continue to grow as the process moves forward. One player that will likely be on many teams' wish list this coming season will be Rivals 250 prospect Eldridge Massington.
The Mesquite (TX) West Mesquite wide receiver already has offers from the likes of Baylor, Colorado, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Oregon, TCU, Virginia and picked up a new offer from Connecticut as recent as yesterday afternoon.
Massington is enjoying the recruiting process thus far and his offer list should only blossom further as the process moves forward.
"The recruiting process is going really well for me," the Rivals 250 prospect told CougarsDen. "I actually just got an offer from UCONN today, it's going really well."
As a junior the 6-foot-3, 188-pound receiver compiled 41 receptions for 666 yards and six touchdowns in spite of being injured for three games, numbers that should only climb during his senior campaign.
Massington has not yet heard from any of the Houston coaches, but being one of the top wide receiver prospects in Texas, he will likely be hearing from them very soon as they start focusing on the 2013 class.
Massington admits there is interest in Houston even though he hasn't heard from them.
"I would love to go into a passing offense," the talented receiver said. "If they came to me I would definitely consider them and would be interested in what they have to offer. They've sent me letters, but I haven't really heard from the coaches yet. I don't really know a whole lot about Houston, but I heard a lot about Case Keenum and their passing attack and that's what really stands out to me for Houston."
With so many offers to choose from and more sure to come, Massington will have plenty of options to choose from as the process moves forward, but for now it's anyone's ball game.
"I don't really have any favorites or a top five at this point," he added. "I've been hearing from a lot of people so I just haven't really set a top five yet, but I'll have one after the spring though, but for now everyone is pretty much even."
Massington doesn't have any immediate camps scheduled but plans on attending a Nike Football Training Combine in Arlington this coming March. With some strong showings in camp and a full season during his senior year, he will likely see his stock rise even more and could become quite the commodity during the 2013 recruiting season.
