McKay reviews Ole Miss, looks ahead to Arkansas

Mekale McKay could wait a couple of months to make his decision.

However, the wide receiver from Louisville (Moore), Ky., probably won't need that long.

Instead, McKay is waiting on a Feb. 24 visit to Arkansas to make his final decision. The 6-foot-6, 192-pound two-sport star plans to sign with either Ole Miss or Arkansas shortly after his trip to Fayetteville concludes.

McKay visited Ole Miss last weekend and loved what he saw.

"It went really well," McKay said. "I basically saw everything I needed to see. I liked getting spending time with players."

McKay said he spent a good amount of time with Ole Miss quarterback Barry Brunetti.

"He's a down to earth kind of guy," McKay said. "We connected. Then I sat down with coaches and those guys are excellent guys. They showed me how they'd use me. They said I'd be an any-down receiver."

McKay, who also plans to play basketball at the college level, also met with Ole Miss hoops coach Andy Kennedy after the Rebels' win over Auburn Saturday.

"It was a pretty good game," McKay said. "They're not a very young team, but they have a young-type feel. They're an up-and-coming program looking for some help."

McKay said he hopes to have a similar weekend at Arkansas so he can adequately compare the two programs.

"I'm looking for same feeling, the same type of environment," McKay said. "It'll be a very tough decision but at the end of the day, God's going to have it all. So I'm not really worried about it."
