No offer yet but Maxwell enjoyed Ruston

BRENHAM, Texas -- He doesn't have an offer yet but from the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs, but that did not stop Xavier Maxwell from making an official visit to Ruston this weekend to check out the Louisiana Tech campus.

"It went good," Mitchell said. "It was a fun experience. I definitely feel like after making this visit that Louisiana Tech could definitely be a place where I wind up."

The 6-0. 175-pound wide receiver out of Blinn Community College is a three-star prospect according to the latest Rivals.com rankings.

"It was fun man," Mitchell said of his visit. "Quinton Patton was my host and he showed me a really good time. We hung out with a bunch of the players and stuff and he took us to a couple of cool parties. So I would have to say that I had a really good time.

"The other cool thing was that they were really able to give us the scoop on the coaching staff and what they are all really about. The players are going to tell you the absolute truth. They aren't going to make it just seem like what you want to hear. I appreciated that. All the players really told me the truth. It was all good things. We also got to tour the campus and the apartments and dorms and stuff. All of that was really fun. There was no one-on-one time or anything like that with the coaching staff but I did get to talk to the offensive coaches and I was liking what I was hearing."

While he doesn't have an offer yet from the Bulldogs, Mitchell said that he did like everything he was hearing when it came to if an offer was coming or not in the near future.

"What the coaching staff was telling me was the fact that that they like me a whole lot," Mitchell said. "They are going to continue to still recruit me and stuff like that. They just said that there is still a lot of time left in the recruiting process for the Class of 2012. That is the biggest thing. We all still have time. So I don't need to worry about anything and I am really not worried about it. I am cool with where I stand with Louisiana Tech right now and I do believe that they are going to be offering me in the not so distant future.

"If that happens then I really think they vault to the top of my favorite schools along with the University of Houston. I am going to make a visit there soon before National Signing Day as well. I am just hopefully now that the offer from Louisiana Tech comes and then I will sit down with my family and make this very important decision. The offer has to come first though."
