Shaun Wick to Visit Wyoming

Ventura (Calif.) St. Bonaventure 5-foot-11, 190 pound athlete Shaun Wick has received a scholarship offer from the Wyoming football program and plans to visit Laramie this weekend on January 13th and 14th.

Wick has been searching for FBS interest after receiving scholarship offers from Northern Colorado and Sacramento State, while interest from a number of programs like Oregon State, San Diego State, Colorado State, UCLA and Washington State to name a few.

Wick's strengths on the football field is his aggressiveness, speed and quickness. He has outstanding side to side agility and runs a 4.0 shuttle. That quickness and lateral agility translate well in the defensive backfield.

He's an athlete and should help his evaluation at both sides of the ball, whether as a running back or receiver on offense and a secondary player on defense.

"I'd say my aggressiveness, speed, and quickness," said Wick. "I think I'm versatile and can be successful on both sides of the football with my athleticism. I can pickup schemes pretty well and that helps playing the game."

The California prospect is a smart football and good in the classroom which helps him pickup complicated schemes implemented by a coaching staff. His understanding of mental part of football and incorporating a playbook helped his high school team in intangible ways, along with his talent.

"My school coaches really stress the mental side of football," said Wick. "If you were to correlate it to an academic subject you'd probably be talking calculus."

His senior season at Ventura (Calif.) St. Bonaventure, Wick was named First Team all-Ventura County Coaches team and First Team Ventura County Star team and was named the Marmonte League Offensive Back of the Year.

The Cowboy prospect rushed for 1,218 yards and 16 touchdowns on 133 carries in his junior season.
