Manley narrows his list

Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton defensive end Josh Manley is one of the last remaining prospects on the Syracuse recruiting board. The three star prospect has been quiet during recruiting, but the process is about to heat up for him.

"I like Syracuse. I like the coaches there, what they do, and how they are going to turn the program around. The school is great and everything. Getting a degree from Syracuse would be a plus."

Manley, 6-foot-3, 245 pounds knows a lot about the Orange, but he will be looking to solidify his thoughts when he visits.

"My visit will be on January 13th. I am looking forward to the visit. I want to get a feel for the campus and the area. I like a lot about Syracuse, but until I really get to experience what it is like on campus I can't make a decision exactly."

During this recruiting process Manley has not only talked with his recruiting coach Greg Adkins, but he has established great relationships with two other coaches on the team.

"I have been talking with Coach Adkins, Coach [Doug] Marrone, and Coach [Scott]Shafer. I have a pretty good relationship with all of them. They're all great guys, we connect and even if it is not football we still have a connection. I would say it is probably rare connection. I really have a great relationship with all of those coaches."

He might have a great connection with the coaches and know a lot about what Syracuse has to offer, but one item in particular grabs his attention when he thinks about the Orange.

"Honestly, when I think about Syracuse I think about the Carrier Dome. For me I like it because it is the only school that I know of that has their own dome. I think that is pretty special and pretty neat. It is really strong for home field advantage and it is just different."

If the Orange do grab Manley's signature on signing day what kind of player are they getting?

"I would say that I am a player that does not have an off switch when it comes to my motor. If there is it is very temporary. My character is something I value as well. I can guarantee I am not the type of player who would just go off after a game or practice and do what he is not supposed to do. If I did that it would not help me or the team win at all. I am a responsible and smart player who really knows the game. Where ever they need me to play and you I can bet you I will know how to play it no matter what."

Besides the Syracuse visit the Peach State product has one other visit set up for January.

"I will be taking my visit to Louisville in January."

With two visits scheduled Manley also knows a couple other programs that are in the hunt with Syracuse and Louisville.

"Louisville, Syracuse, Georgia Tech, Purdue, and recently Tulane jumped into the picture. I am liking what they are doing down there at Tulane with the new coaches."

With his list of schools narrowed and a great connection with the Orange is there a chance that could be his first and last visit?

"Possibly, but part of me really wants to see more schools. The only campus that I have seen out of my offers is Georgia Tech and I like that campus, but I want to see more than just one or two."

If he does not pick the Orange after that visit Manley will likely max out his official visits before a decision.

"It will come after the visits. After I have my visits I will know in my heart of hearts where I want to go."
