3-Star WR Likes MT

Winter Park (FL) wide receiver Xavier Amerson finished his senior season a few weeks ago.

While it may not have ended the way he had hoped, Amerson's successful senior season played a large part in propelling his team into the playoffs before they lost in the first round.

The three-star wide receiver finished his junior season with over 800 yards receiving and an impressive eight touchdowns.

His senior year included some impressive performances as well. In Winter Park's loss to Evans, the senior wide receiver had 11 receptions for 181 yards and a touchdown. His steady play this year was enough to gain the interest of two new schools - Minnesota and Mississippi State.

Amerson claims offers from Memphis, Florida A&M, Washington State, Western Michigan, North Carolina State, and Middle Tennessee. With just a few months until signing day, Amerson seems to have narrowed the field down to North Carolina State and Middle Tennessee.

"I like NC State because they are in the ACC and my cousin plays there," Amerson told GoMiddle.com.

But family matters may not be enough to draw him to the Wolfpack.

"I like Middle Tennessee because I like their offense," he said. "They are young and will need new receivers."

With the Blue Raiders graduating many receivers this off-season, they will be looking to reload the positions and a receiver like Amerson looks to fit right into their plans.

Amerson, also a standout track athlete at Winter Park, has stated in the past that a good education, early playing time, and the opportunity to play in bowl games are his deciding factors. Middle Tennessee will be pitching the opportunity to get all three of those wishes granted.

While Amerson is enjoying the recruiting process, he will begin to take his official visits in January, when he has said he will definitely visit Middle Tennessee.
