Commit takes his official visit

Akeel Lynch took his official visit to Boston College over the weekend and everyone knew going into the trip that it was an important time. That's because other schools are still pursuing Lynch, in spite of his commitment to BC, and the Eagles are trying to make sure he stays on board.

Lynch, a 6-foot, 205-pound running back from Athol Springs (N.Y.) St. Francis, told that the trip went very well. There were no surprises but sometimes that's a good thing.

"It was a real good weekend," Lynch said shortly after returning home on Sunday afternoon.

"I spent most of my time with the players. It was real fun. I was with Andre Williams and Tahj Kimble most of the time. Tahj was my host and it was my first time meeting him."

As you might imagine the coaches had plenty to say as well.

"I met with Coach (Ben) Sirmans, Coach Spaz and some of the others," he recalled. "They just wanted to make sure I had a good time at the school and they did a good job of making sure all of my questions were answered."

Lynch said he left town feeling comfortable with the decision he made back in July when he verbally committed to the Eagles.

That said, he's still planning on taking an official visit to Iowa this coming weekend.

"Iowa's the other visit for right now. I'm just wanting to make sure I've made the right decision.

"Coach (Lester) Erb has been talking to me and he's just wanted me to check them out. He says it's a great school with a great football tradition and Iowa City is a great place. He just wants me to come down and show me around."

How confident is Lynch that he will stick with the Eagles?

"I'm a verbal (commitment)," he said. "So if everything goes like it has I'll most likely go there (to BC). I'm just taking my visits to make sure it's good."
