Urban Meyer continues to attack the recruiting trail this week as he has been working the phones and calling several of the top prospects from around the nation. Four-star safety Demetrious Cox is one of the prospects that Meyer has been in touch with this week. The 6-foot-1, 192-pound prospect from Jeanette (Pa.) has been a key target for the Buckeyes for months and Meyer wanted to let Cox know that nothing had changed on that front.

"I talked to (Meyer) yesterday (Wednesday)," said Cox. "He just told me that they're going to get things rolling and that he wants me to be a part of it and he thinks that I'm a great player. (The conversation) went real good I thought. He seems like a really good guy, a winner, and he's going to do great things there."

Cox and his teammates were eliminated from the playoffs this past weekend with a 14-7 loss. Still, Cox said he was pretty happy with the season he had.

"You always want to win it all," he said. "I thought I did a lot though for my team and as far as being a leader."

With his season now over, Cox will now turn his attention back towards recruiting. He had previously shut things down during his team's playoff run.

"I'm definitely getting things moving more with recruiting," he said. "I'm looking at things more and I'm looking to start setting up my official visits."

Cox had narrowed his list down to 10 schools in August and still lists those same 10 programs as having a chance to land his official visits.

"Pretty much Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan State, Pitt, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, West Virginia, and Arkansas," he explained. "I haven't been in touch with Texas A&M or Texas Tech but they were in the mix earlier."

So where do the Buckeyes stand after Cox's conversation with Meyer?

"With Ohio State, having coach Meyer definitely helps them," he said. "He's a great coach that I would love to play for but that still doesn't change the depth they have at the position or anything."

Cox added that he has no real plan as far as a timetable for a final decision.

"There's no (set date for an announcement)," he said. "Whenever I feel comfortable with a school I'll just make my decision."
