The second round of the AHSAA playoffs in Class 6A featured a colossal matchup between two of the state's best teams as Daphne traveled to Prattville last Friday night in the game of the week, and maybe even the year.
Daphne, the defending state champions, entered the game with one of the top candidates for Mr. Football in running back T.J. Yeldon, an Auburn commitment. Also, Ryan Anderson, who is headed to Alabama next year, has proved to be one of the top defensive players in the state for the Trojans this year.
On the other sideline, Prattville came in with more Division 1 talent than any other program in the state, and despite two losses on the year, the Lions may be one of the most talented teams in the country.
UA commitments Justin Thomas and Caleb Gulledge paced the offense, but it was Prattville's defense that stood up to the test, stopped Yeldon and carried the Lions to a 13-3 win over Daphne to advance to the next round.
The TideSports Road Crew was on the sidelines to bring you full coverage from the game, including reaction from the Prattville players and coaches.
