Oregon will get visit from 4* LB

Centreville high school is 4-0 after beating Herndon 41-14 on Friday. Standout athlete Ken Ekanem starts at defensive end and tight end for Centreville and in addition to a slew of sacks and tackles, grabbed his second touchdown of the season during the most recent win. He is not satisfied with his performance.

"I have not been playing as well as I want to or I thought I would as of right now," Ekanem self-assessed. "This last game I did decent. I can do better but I have had bad timing on plays right now. I'm picking it up."

Ranked as a four-star prospect and the nations' #17 outside linebacker, Ekanem is being recruited at several positions in the defensive front seven.

"I play defensive end for my team right now," said Ekanem. "Some schools are recruiting me at linebacker, some at a defensive end that drops back."

One school recruiting the Rivals250 athlete at outside linebacker is the University of Oregon, the only west coast school currently interesting to Ekanem. Duck Sports Authority asked about the basis for the long distance attraction.

"Oregon is a well-run program," Ekanem replied. "It's always in the Top-25 rankings every season for quite a while now. They went to the national championship last year so that caught my eye. Once they offered me, I was like, 'I can't believe that actually happened.' Here I am some guy from Virginia on the opposite side of the nation. That was a shocker to me."
