Jenkins excited about UA visit

The University of Alabama is expecting to have a number of prospects on campus this weekend, but none may be bigger than Rivals 100 defensive end Jordan Jenkins, who will be in town Saturday on an unofficial visit.

Jenkins is scheduled to drive over to Tuscaloosa for the Arkansas game on Saturday with his father and teammates Jay Ellison and TaQuan Marshall.

"He's looking forward to it," said Jordan's father, Ronald Jenkins. He wants to watch them and watch how the Jack linebacker goes with the rest of the team and get a little familiar with how the defense operates."

Saturday's visit to Alabama will be unofficial as Jenkins plans to take his official visit to UA on the weekend of Nov. 5, when LSU is in town.

The Hamilton, Ga., native has already taken one unofficial visit this year to Auburn for the Mississippi State game. He's scheduled to take four official visits to Alabama, Auburn, Florida and Georgia before making a decision.

Even with the start of his senior year at Harris County High School, recruiting hasn't slowed for Jenkins.

"It's still pretty hot and heavy for him," Ronald Jenkins said. "He's trying to focus on the football season, but he's still taking phone calls from coaches pretty much on a daily basis. He's had a few coaches at his games so far this year.

"He's just taking it all in stride. He's got his top teams, and he's also got two that stand out above the rest of them, which are Alabama and Florida."

Crimson Tide assistant coach Sal Sunseri traveled to Georgia last week to watch Jenkins play in Harris County's 14-12 loss to Whitewater.
