Dillard looking closely at State

One of the top offensive line prospects in Michigan for the class of 2013 is Cameron Dillard of Canton High School. The 6-foot-3, 280-pound prospect is getting plenty of attention from BCS programs and Michigan State is one of the schools that is in frequent contact. caught up with Dillard and got some details on his recruitment.

Dillard made the rounds at camp this summer, and had strong performances at every school he visited. Eastern Michigan got the jump on Dillard's recruitment back in May and offered him a scholarship. Several other BCS schools such as Michigan State, Michigan and Notre Dame have been in regular contact. Dillard had the following to say about the Spartan Camp.

"Coach Staten said he didn't know what to expect out of me when I came to the camp, but he was impressed with my work ethic, my no quit attitude to finish the block, but more importantly I was coachable. Coach Staten went on to say Michigan State will be graduating six offensive players in 2013. Additionally, Coach Staten said I was considered one of the interior linemen they are looking to fill that void in 2013."

Dillard is off to a strong junior season for Canton High school. We asked him about his season so far.

"We have started the season off right," he said. "We are 4-0. Coach Baechler and the rest of the coaching staff do a great job preparing us to face our opponent each week. Additionally, our team has worked really hard, but we all know there is still have a lot of work ahead of us in order to get to the State Championship game"

Dillard has been working very hard in the off-season to improve his game. He has spent countless hours in the gym and on the practice field improving his skills. We asked him how that has paid off.

"I think I am stronger this year. Also, I feel I am more easily able to control the guy across from me. Since working out with Mike Barwis in season and out, I feel I am quicker off the ball this year than last. Additionally, I believe I am doing a pretty good on pulls and getting to the second level."

Dillard has already seen Michigan State in action this fall. He was at Notre Same last weekend to see the Spartans and the Irish. He talked about that visit to

"I was in South Bend on Saturday watching the Green," Dillard said. "After my visit was over at Notre Dame and I was heading home, I saw Skyler Burkland. I wished him well and looked forward seeing him on the field again soon. I also spoke to Coach Salem briefly. Looking forward coming back to East Lansing this weekend watching Michigan bounce back against Central Michigan"

Dillard indicated that he has kept in regular contact with the Michigan State staff and he plans on being on campus several times this fall. We asked him about the feedback he is getting form college coach and specifically Michigan State.

"The feedback has been positive from the coaches that I speak to regularly, especially with Michigan State. Coach Samuel he asked me for my first few game highlights as well when I plan to return to East Lansing to take in another game. As of now, I am planning on attending the following: October 15 vs. Michigan, October 22 vs. Wisconsin, and November 19 vs. Indiana." will be sure to keep in contact with Dillard in the coming weeks. Offensive line recruiting has become very critical for the Michigan State Spartans and Dillard's stock is definitely on the rise.
