South Louisiana speedster talks about Tech offer

WHITE CASTLE, LA.-South Louisiana has been good to Louisiana Tech in recent years at the skilled positions.

Could Sonny Dykes and his staff plucked another talented prospect out of South Louisiana?

Tyree Bracken is a 5-9, 180-pound running back out of White Castle High School. Sitting on an offer from the Bulldogs, Bracken is a known for his speed and elusiveness in the backfield.

"Right now I am hearing from a lot of schools that want me to come camp at their campuses this summer," Bracken said. "I have three offers so far and they are from Southern Mississippi, Memphis and Louisiana Tech. I have camped in Hattiesburg (Southern Mississippi) and I have also camped at Mississippi State. I plan on attending the LSU camp later this month and I also want to go back to Mississippi State."

The only in-state school to extend a scholarship offer so far, Bracken said that he likes what he has been hearing from the Bulldogs and really does want to stay close to home; something that could bode well for Dykes and staff.

"Memphis was my first offer but I like Louisiana Tech a whole lot," Bracken said. "When I talk to the coaching staff they talk a lot about how I could really come in and fit in their program right away and help them win games. That is always something you want to hear and I sure as heck like it as well. The really want me a lot and I am interested in learning more about them. I am the type of running back that they love. I want to make it up to Ruston before my senior year for sure.

"I really do want to stay close to home (in the state of Louisiana). I want my family to be able to come see me play. Saying that I don't want to say yet that Tech is my only leader because they are the only in-state school to offer me but I do like that they are as close to home as possible. That is a good thing."

When it comes to a decision timeline for the all-important commitment, Bracken said to expect him to not waste much time.

"I want this thing done quickly (the decision process)," Bracken said. "I will have my decision done before the season at White Castle starts for sure."
