Tech in top three for Williams

Dallas (Texas) Bryan Adams athlete Kris Williams will be in Rockwall (Texas) this weekend to attend a Texas Tech camp, and he'll be there with an offer in hand from the Red Raiders.

"Yes, sir. They offered me this week and I've been building a relationship with them for a little bit now," Williams said. "I've always liked Texas Tech, but it's still a new relationship when it comes to them recruiting me. I've always liked watching them play, though. I've bee a fan of their program for a while."

Assistant coach Robert Prunty is recruiting Williams. At this point Tech has their sights set on the 6-foot-3, 210-pounder as a linebacker.

"We've got a strong relationship. I haven't had many chances to talk with him, but I felt like we bonded in the short amount of time that we've talked so far. [Coach Prunty] seems like a really good guy," he said. "I don't care which side of the ball I play on as long as I have a chance to make an impact. Whatever position will give me a shot at the next level, I'm willing to play."

Aside from Tech, Williams listed Nevada and Cal as the schools he's hearing from the most right now. He plans on making a decision sometime this summer, and Tech looks to be in good standing whenever that happens.

"I want to make a decision this summer, definitely. I'm planning on doing that before my season starts just to get all of the distractions out of the way," Williams said. "Texas Tech is pretty high on my list right now. They're definitely in my top three with Cal and Arizona State. I'm looking forward to getting to know some of the other coaches and just learning more about them. I've got a lot of interest in them right now."

Williams currently holds offers from Arizona State, Arkansas State, Cal, Nevada, New Mexico, SMU, Texas Tech, and UTEP.
