Three stand out for Flannigan
Missouri City (Texas) Fort Bend Marshall outside linebacker Ryan Flannigan has been receiving a lot of attention recently due to the fact that he has decommitted from Baylor and opened his recruitment back up to the masses. Questions have arisen in the aftermath of that decision, and Flannigan had this to say about his decision.
"I just decommitted from them," said the linebacker. "It wasn't about me not liking the school or me not feeling comfortable there. I just want to reopen my recruitment because I was getting more offers, so I really wanted to look into it."
Flannigan said that despite his decision, Baylor is still one of the top teams vying for him. The other teams in that race right now are Texas Tech and Arizona State. He shared these thoughts on the Red Raiders.
"I like their coaches. I met all their coaches when I went up there. I feel like they have an uprising of talent, and I think they're gonna be good in the next few years, and I could see myself playing with them."
He also had this to say about the Sun Devils.
"I feel like they're a great school. They have a couple of good linebackers that's probably going to go to the draft next year," he said. "I probably could play (immediately). I could come in and fight for a position. That could be a good spot for me at linebacker over there."
Another school that Flannigan is catching interest from is Boise State. Their success in the BCS is a big factor for the Missouri City defender.
"They've always been a good team. They always go to the BCS, like the 5 last years I think. That's good. I like that a lot."
The linebacker has also seen a number of schools come by during the open period. Flannigan said that these schools stuck out to him.
"Oklahoma came for me. TCU, they were at my spring game. Some more schools, West Virginia, Utah, Miami, schools like that."
Spring football went well for the Fort Bend Marshall recruit, and the Horned Frogs and Sooners took notice.
"Oh it went real good. The TCU coach said he really likes me. He's gonna call me sometime next week, and Oklahoma said the same thing."
Flannigan is also pondering upon which summer camps he may attend. He will attend the Baylor camp, but will not participate.
"I was gonna attend the Oklahoma camp. I was gonna try to get out there, but Baylor wants me to come to camp. I'm gonna go there, but I'm not gonna participate."
When asked about attending Texas Tech's Houston area camp, Flannigan had not yet thought about that possibility. He did, however, give out a list of current leaders. The Red Raiders are one of the schools on that list.
"I really like Oklahoma a lot. I like Oklahoma, I like Arizona State, and I like Texas Tech."
Flannigan currently holds offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Baylor, Boise State, Houston, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana State, San Diego State, Texas Tech, West Virginia, and Western Kentucky.
