Gray planning next visits

Houston (Texas) Westside wide receiver Deante' Gray has cited Texas Tech as his favorite on several occasions over the past few weeks, but the line of suitors behind the Red Raiders has only continued to grow in number.

"I've been hearing from quite a few programs. Arizona, Oklahoma, Oregon State, and Texas A&M have all still been on me," Gray said. "I'm probably hearing the most from Tech, Baylor, Colorado, and Utah."

Gray has been kept busy by his track and field duties, preventing him from making any visits lately, but he hopes to hit the road when the summer arrives.

"I haven't been on any visits or anything lately. It's been tough because of track which has kept my weekends pretty full," he said. "I'll definitely start looking a little closer at who I want to visit when the summer gets here, though. I'm guessing that I'll probably take trips to a few different places before the fall. I'm pretty sure that Texas Tech will be a place that I'll go see."

The Red Raiders have been led in their pursuit of Gray by assistant coach Chad Scott.

"Coach Scott has been my recruiter and we've gotten to know each other really well. We talk pretty frequently. I'd say we're in contact with each other at least two or three times a week. He's a great guy and we've definitely created a strong bond between us."

With the 5-foot-10, 180-pounder's list of options only growing longer, do the Red Raiders still sit at the forefront?

"I'd say so. I'm comfortable saying that Tech is still who I'm liking the most right now. They'd be followed by Utah and Baylor. I'm looking forward to getting on the road this summer and hopefully checking them all out again in person."

Gray currently holds offers from Baylor, Colorado, Texas Tech, UTSA, and Tulsa.
