Miami speedster adds second SEC West offer

Last week, DeAndre Jasper picked up an offer from Auburn and immediately named the national champions his favorite.

Earlier this week, the wide receiver from Miami (Jackson), Fla., began hearing rumblings that he had received another offer from the powerful SEC West.

Auburn still leads for Jasper, but Ole Miss has targeted the speedster as a potential piece of the puzzle the Rebels have to fill to one day catch the Tigers.

"They're sending me things," Jasper said. "They're comparing me to some former players of theirs. They're comparing me to (former Ole Miss star/Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver) Mike Wallace. I like Ole Miss."

Jasper, a 5-foot-11, 180-pounder who is being recruited primarily as a slot receiver, has offers from Ole Miss, Auburn, Central Florida, South Florida, Arizona State, Florida State, Virginia and Rutgers. He's hoping to attend Auburn's junior day this weekend and then check out some of his other suitors over the next several months.

"I'm just looking for a good relationship with the coaches," Jasper said. "That's the main thing. I want to go somewhere where I can play real early."

In addition to the schools that have already offered, Jasper said he's very interested in hearing from Floria and Oregon.

Jasper caught 20 passes for more than 400 yards and seven touchdowns as a junior.
