Spartans offer massive Minnesota OL

Michigan State is being very active early in the recruiting process and they recently extended a scholarship offer to one of the top offensive tackle prospect in the Midwest, Jonah Pirsig of Blue Earth Area High School. caught up with the massive6-foot-9, 300-pound prospect and got some details on his recruitment.

Being a small town in Southern Minnesota, Blue Earth is not a usual stop on the recruiting tour of major BCS programs, but that is not the case this year. College coaches will be making the trip there this spring when the evaluation period begins.
Pirsig already has several impressive scholarship offers on the table and his list is expanding weekly. asked him about his current scholarships.

"I have six offers right now," he said. Illinois offered me on Friday and Michigan State just offered to today. I had been speaking with the coaches from Michigan State for a while now and they watched my film and decided to offer."

In addition to the Spartans and Illini, Pirsig has scholarship offers from Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Ohio State. Based on his early scholarship offer list, Pirsig will likely be one of the highest ranked offensive line prospects in the entire Big ten region.

Pirsig has already been to visit several of the schools that are geographically close to where he lives. He indicated that this spring he will be making a trip to check out some other schools.

"I am planning on going out to see Ohio State and Michigan State this spring," Pirsig said." I may go to some camps out there as well."

At 6-foot-9, Pirsig is extremely tall for a high school junior. However, he moves well for his size and has a frame to add muscle and not become slow and stiff. Flexibility is often a big issue for offensive line prospects Pirsig's size, but he has the ability to get low. Pirsig also informed us that all of the early recruiting attention is somewhat of a welcome surprise for someone who is as humble and hardworking as Pirsig.

"The coaches I talk with say they really like my athleticism and how physical I am", he said. "The offers are a dream come true. I wish everyone could have the opportunity to go through the process and have the opportunities I have."

Pirsig indicated that as of right now he is still in the evaluation phase of his recruitment. He wants to see what the other schools have to offer before he narrows down his list and closes in on a decision. will be sure to keep an eye out for Pirsig later this spring or summer. If he does attend the Green and Write Game or the Michigan State Elite 1-Day Camp, he certainly will not be hard to miss.
