Marshall on the rise
Raleigh (N.C.) running back Keith Marshall grew up watching some of USC's most storied ball carriers.
A rising senior, Marshall now has the opportunity to follow in their footsteps.
USC is one of many schools to offer Marshall, who said he watched the Trojans frequently when he was younger.
"I was a big Reggie Bush fan, so I used to watch him all the time," Marshall said. "I know they have a great tradition of having great running backs."
A member of the Rivals250 to watch list for the class of 2012, Marshall already has an assortment of offers. As a junior, he ran for 1,550 yards and 18 touchdowns. He tallied 1,166 yards rushing and 12 rushing touchdowns in his sophomore year.
Receiving frequent phone calls this early in the recruiting process might fluster other prospects, but Marshall is happy to hear from coaches.
"Recruiting is going great," Marshall said. "I'm getting a lot of attention right now."
With his recruitment still in its infancy, Marshall is still sorting out his list of schools. But Marshall is already starting to consider what he will be looking for in his future school.
"I want to make sure the football program is strong, as well as the academics," Marshall said.
The prospect of moving across the country didn't daunt Marshall.
"If I feel USC is the place for me, the distance won't matter," Marshall said.
Marshall's decision may take a while to make, but he doesn't intend on waiting all the way until signing day.
"I'm looking to make a decision during next football season," Marshall said.
