Ayoola and White reunite?

Hailing from lauded St. Thomas Aquinas, junior running back Dami Ayoola jokes with alum and former Wisconsin tailback James White quite frequently.

"I joke around with him saying 'Ayoola and White reunite,' Ayoola told BadgerBlitz.com recently. "We're just joking around, but that doesn't come up in our conversations at all. It's just me staying focused on the season and with what I need to get done."

Ayoola, who already has offers from Big Ten brethren Iowa and the Big East's Rutgers, has always been intrigued with football being played in the Midwest's premier football conference.

"I am interested in the Big Ten," Ayoola said. "They rely on their running backs to run the ball. They live and die with the running game so I'm pretty interested in that."

So naturally, though he already has an offer from the Hawkeyes, a call from the Badgers would peak his interest, particularly with James White and a couple other former teammates (Conor O'Neill and Dezmen Southward) on the current UW roster.

"White is my longtime friend so it would be good to see Wisconsin recruit me in the coming year," Ayoola, fresh off STA's second national title in the past three years, said. "I've met with the coach, but they haven't really been on me like the other schools. I'm looking for them to pick up the steam in the next few months."

In the meantime Ayoola is focused on getting ready for spring football, which is set to begin next month.

"Spring football, you go in and work hard," Ayoola said. "Being a Florida athlete it's a little hotter down here so I think that's how it gives us an edge on a lot of people around he country. We use it for the same work we do in the summer. You get in there and hit the weight room hard and hit the field hard and running.

"We hit the ground running in the 2011 season."

Being so early in the recruitment phase for a 2012 prospect, Ayoola hasn't really begun to approach the idea of lining up potential visits quite yet.

"I'll probably take an unofficial to Miami and I'll probably try to get up to Iowa to see their spring game or something like that," Ayoola said. "But right now, I don't really have anything written down or an itinerary yet. I'm just focused on the season and maybe the visits will come after spring football."

Though the visits are yet to be determined, it seems as though Ayoola is trimming his list for camp visits and combines over the summer months.

"I'll be at the Friday Night Lights camp," Ayoola said. "I'll be at Florida State's junior day and I'll probably go back up to Auburn and do their camp because I know there will be a lot of competition up there this year. I'll probably go up there and do their camp. There will probably be one more, too. I'm not sure yet, but those are the ones I know for sure that I'll be at."

Ayoola on the play of James White this season:

"He always had potential because he's always been a polished running back. He does great things that other people overlook like catching the ball out of the backfield and little things like that. He does all the little things great which may have helped him achieve Big Ten Freshman of the Year."
