Hokies latest to offer fast-rising junior OL

Virginia Tech is the latest team to pull the trigger on an emerging lineman in the 2012 recruiting class. What does the prospect think of the Hokies scholarship?

"I actually got it tonight," Greensboro (N.C.) Western Guilford 2012 offensive tackle Brock Stadnik said. "Coach shot me an email and said he was very impressed with my film.

"Then, I called him, I talked to Coach O'Cain. He told me they usually don't offer rising juniors, but they saw a lot of good things on my film. They also saw me this summer at their camp and they said I was very athletic and had all the right skills; they just wanted some junior film. Now that they had it, they were ready to make a decision. He said they were very excited about me and are trying to get me up for a game."

At this point, Stadnik is unsure when he'll make it up, but claims he is looking into it.

The scholarship from the Hokies is the tenth for Stadnik, what does he think?

"I'm very happy about it, it's exciting," he stated. "It's a big ACC school and it's another opportunity for me.

"I went down to Tech this summer for camp and Coach O'Cain took me around campus and I saw the new locker room which was under construction. The football stadium was very cool and everything was close, the facilities, the weight room, it's very convenient. I'm excited about the offer, I liked what I saw there and I'm happy I finally got an offer from another big ACC school, it's pretty awesome."

Plenty of other schools are checking out the 6-foot-5, 285-pounder including the latest being Alabama.

Meanwhile, the season hasn't gone extremely well, but Stadnik continues to impress.

"It's very sad, we're such a young team this year, but I think we'll be much better next year. We just got to have all 11 players doing their job," he said. "I feel like I have really improved, I've improved my overall aggression and I'm learning to control my aggressiveness. I'm using my hand placement better. Camps helped me with my competition, I have no problem with the competition in the area, all the summer work has helped."
