Junior OL Park has Pitt offer

Pittsburgh (Pa.) Upper St. Clair offensive guard Ian Park was impressive on the camp circuit this summer.

So impressive, in fact, that the coaches from Pitt verbally offered him. That was a big deal because the Pitt campus is so close to Park's home and he's pretty familiar with the school, but also because it was his first offer of the process.

"I went to the Pitt camp, and also [camps at] Ohio State and West Virginia," Park explained. After the Pitt camp they offered me. I know I got noticed at the Ohio State camp.

"Pitt is probably up there at the top for me right now. I like their offensive line coach and I like how they run the ball. They play smash mouth football."

Park was recently on the road again checking out another school that has been showing some interest.

"[A few] weeks ago I went to North Carolina State. It was my first time there. They contacted me about coming down and so I went there for the Western Carolina game, their season opener.

"They've got a great, great fan base. It was just really nice to see everything that went on there. I'd say I really like Pitt and North Carolina State as well. I also like Penn State and UConn."

The 6-foot-3, 285-pound guard said he will probably visit UConn and Penn State between now and the end of November.

His Upper St. Clair team is off to a good start this year with a 4-1 record on the season. They have won three consecutive games, including their most recent by a score of 38-22.

"I've been doing alright," he said. "I've been progressing every game. I'm getting a little better each time but I can always keep working and keep fighting."

Park is being recruited as a right guard.
