Valentine's heart at Michigan State

From the moment the evaluation period came to a close on the last day of July, Lansing Sexton star Denzel Valentine has had his phone ringing off the hook as programs from across the country began to position themselves to recruit the talented 6-foot-5, 205-pound junior wing.

"It was really crazy," said Valentine of the attention he has received since the start of August, "I was getting so many calls that it got to be overwhelming and I wanted to get recruiting over with."

When Michigan State extended an offer on August 1, Valentine had an inkling that the process would indeed be over quickly. That was before he took and unofficial visit to Michigan, where he was given the red-carpet treatment by Wolverine coach John Beilein. Making matters more difficult was the offer he received from Georgetown during a phone conversation with Hoyas coach John Thompson III.

Coaches from Michigan State, Michigan, and Georgetown were at nearly every game Valentine played during July.
