Sandberg explores more of Starkville
Like many other recruits, Cord Sandberg has a decision to make.
But Sandberg's decision does not have anything to do with which school he will attend. He decided that seven months ago.
Sandberg is waiting to see how high he will be drafted in the June Major League Baseball draft to see whether or not he will be playing quarterback at Mississippi State this season.
With the situation unable to resolved for several more months, Sandberg and his family made the trip from Bradenton, Fla., to Starkville on an official visit over the weekend to see what one side of the equation had to offer.
"It was awesome," Sandberg said. "We did so much stuff. I got to spend 48 hours with them. Every night was amazing because of the food. The first night we were at UMI's, the Japanese steakhouse there, and that was absolutely awesome. The next night we ate at the Veranda and that was awesome too. I was starving that night so I ordered a filet and chicken parmesan and I cleaned both those plates."
It was Sandberg's second visit to the MSU campus. His first came on June 11th, the day that he committed to the Bulldogs.
On his earlier visit he was able to view most of the football and baseball facilities that State has to offer. This time around the 6-foot-3, 205-pounder was able to explore the town of Starkville more and see the upgrades the football team has made since his last trip.
"My host was Richie Brown and I got to spend some free time with him," Sandberg said. "It was great and awesome hanging out with him and some of the other guys in town. We also got to see the new facility, which was cool. The weight room, locker room and the training room - which I hope I don't have to be in - are nice. It was cool to see the stadium under construction because once everything gets finished that's going to be flat out awesome."
Sandberg stated that he also sat down and watched some film with Mississippi State offensive coordinator Les Koenning.
