Three star OT high on SU
Syracuse has lost out on Jaron Jones and Chad Kelly, but there is another solid prospect from New York State that they are trying to lock up. That player is 6-foot-6, 295 pound offensive tackle Sean Karl of Manorville (N.Y.) Eastport.
Syracuse offered the prospect back in March and this past weekend he went to visit the Orange coaches at a football camp.
"I didn't work with the coaches at the camp I just hung out with some of the coaches. My Dad and I met with Coach Marrone and we talked for about forty five minutes," Karl said. Coach Marrone told us how the Syracuse football program is a family and that I would benefit from them both in football and academics. He also talked to us about his coaching experiences in college and the pros."
After meeting with the Syracuse coaches and a long talk with Doug Marrone Karl is thinking highly of the Orange.
"My thoughts on Syracuse are that I definitely have a high interest in them. I haven't visited some schools yet so I can't make a list, but they're defiantly high."
Besides the coaches there are a few other items that stick out when Karl thinks about the Orange.
"The tradition, I know the program was once elite. They kind of fell off but now there starting to get it back with Coach Marrone."
At Syracuse the Orange coaches know they want Karl of the offensive line, but they do not know where on the line just yet.
"They see me as either a tackle or guard. I like tackle, but if they want me to guard I'll play there."
Also when he was on the trip he had the chance to meet other prospects who are thinking about the Orange.
"I met about five recruits and two of them were from Long Island, Devante McFarlane and Omari Palmer."
Did the Syracuse verbal Palmer through a pitch or two at Karl?
"No he really didn't. I have met Omari before and we talked about how Syracuse is getting back on track and it would be really special going there at this time."
With the Syracuse camp in the books there are a few more places the prospect will be checking out soon.
"I am going to Virginia at the end of the month and Boston College this Sunday."
After these visits take place this summer a decision could come soon.
"I defiantly want to make my decision before my season starts."
