Call Me The Breeze
The latest 40 time on his Rivals page probably needs to be updated. But then again Houston Westside wide receiver Deante' Gray hasn't tested for it recently. Yet he knows he's probably faster than that 4.5.
"I think I'd be in the 4.4s if I was tested now,'' Gray said.
It would be hard to think that couldn't since his personal-best time in the 100-meter dash is 10.5, which he set at the regional track meet in May.
With a flurry of schools pursuing him, Gray has started to sort through the process and begun narrowing his choices. He's looking Stanford, Baylor, SMU, Texas Tech, Oregon State and West Virginia.
Scheduling visits is going to be an issue for him since he said he's heavily involved in both 7 on7 and summer track. Blink, and you might miss them. They would be gone like the breeze.
"I like Baylor a lot because they have a great system,'' Gray said. "SMU has been coming on real strong since they offered a month ago. But when I get the ball, I want to be a playmaker.
"I do want to make a decision before school starts. I have to get some visits in to see where I would be comfortable.''
