Things heating up for Woods
With signing day in the rear view mirror for the 2011 class the Ducks will now focus all of their recruiting attention on the 2012 class. It is apparent however, that the Duck's coaching staff has already been hard at work making contact with the 2012 class. One of those recruits the Ducks have their sights set on is Inglewood, CA 6-foot-1, 180 pounder Derrick Woods. Duck Sports Authority recently checked in with the two-way standout to get a feel for how his recruitment is progressing.
"It's going pretty fast," Woods said. "It's not something that I'm used to but I'm getting used to it. It's a good experience."
Woods has good size at receiver and is extremely fluid with the ball in his hands. He also has a toughness about him and is hard to bring down. He is fast and has good vision which gives him the capability of breaking open a game at any time. His ability level is apparent by the amount of early offers that have been received by him. ASU, USC, UW, Idaho, Oregon, Miami, Stanford and Cal all have offered according to Woods. Of those offers so far Woods says that a few teams are standing out initially.
