Versatile Rogers visits Iowa
There is little doubt that Iowa City West junior Charles Rogers is one of the top football players in the state of Iowa. The only question is what position does he project to at the college level? The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Rogers has the versatility to play quarterback, wide receiver, safety, or cornerback. At Iowa's junior day this past weekend, he met with both offensive and defensive coaches.
"I got to talk with the coaches a lot," said Rogers. "I met with Coach Parker, the defensive backs coach, and Coach Campbell, the wide receivers coach. I still haven't found out if they're going to offer me or heard much position wise, but I think it's either safety or wide receiver."
As a junior, Rogers completed 88 of 166 passes for 1,351 yards and 9 touchdowns. He also added 689 yards rushing and 6 touchdowns on the ground as well. Last summer, the Class of 2012 prospect worked at defensive back, wide receiver, and quarterback during Iowa's camp and expects to be there again this year looking to prove himself.
