Linebacking Talent Finally Arrives in Norman
NORMAN, Okla. - The first day of every Oklahoma camp session always has it's fair share of surprises but there were certainly two clear storylines on Monday. Interestingly the two seemed to intertwine as for the first time all week a stellar group of linebackers worked out for Brent Venables and among them were the relatives of a current Sooners as well as a future one.
While the group of backers didn't consist of a lot of well known names there was no denying the physical presence of the likes of 2012 standouts Brian Nance and Bryce Cottrell or 2011 prospect John Parrham.
When you add the duo of Sooner legacies Charles Wort -younger brother of current Sooner linebacker, Tom- and Cameron Williams the younger brother of current Sooner commitment Danzel Williams you begin to realize not only were there players that passed the eyeball test but loads of athleticism for Venables to work with on Monday.
Perhaps more than any of the other talented 'backers Euless (Texas) Trinity's Nance not only looked the part but played it. His ability to change directions in spite of long legs and long arms that would make many look awkward makes him a very intriguing prospect for next year in the Lone Star State. Tomorrow may show more of his ability to be physical as their figures to be some battles between the group of linebackers and the tight ends.
